The Alta solar owl garden path light needs none: you push its ground stake into the soil by hand, the solar panel beside the base charges through the day, and a light sensor switches the warm white LED on at nightfall and off at dawn. There is no switch or timer for you to set.
For the best glow, place it where the panel gets direct sun for most of the day, clear of roof overhangs and dense shrubs; a shaded spot gives a shorter glow. The owl stands 17.7" (45 cm) tall including the stake and 5.9" (15 cm) wide, and weighs 1.8 lbs (0.8 kg). The LED sits in the stump under the owl, so the base glows and lights the bird from below. The housing is rated IP65, so rain and hose spray stay out and it can stay in your garden through wet weather; bring it in during hard freezes or heavy snow to protect the cell. Use one in a single bed or line several along your front walk.
